Other Information This Fairfax was the first of two owned by Merchants & Miners. The second Fairfax was the vessel that rammed and sank the tanker Pinthis in 1930.
This vessel was lost in the storm that later became known as the "Portland Gale." The storm was so named for the loss of the steamer Portland in Massachusetts Bay.
